Failure to comply with the 7671: 2008 and the building regulations can result in prosecution by the state. Anyone who undertakes electrical installation work (including electrical installers, kitchen/bathroom fitters, owners, landlords, friends, etc) must at least have the electrical installation inspected and tested upon completion by a competent person using the correct electrical test equipment which must have a valid calibration certificate at the time that the electrical testing is carried out.
